Being plant-conscious eco-friendly Coffee Wanchors who adore & care for our beautiful environment, it is imperative that our coffee is as eco-friendly as possible, so all of our coffee comes in 100% biodegradable coffee pouches. Actual biodegradable coffee pouches ;not the ones that take thousands of years to decompose & then oxo-biodegrade into tiny molecules. Once our bags are in the bin, on the compost heap or on landfill, they’re completely gone in 90 days. Even the valve! And the seal! Try it if you don’t believe us.
Initially, we considered using recyclable bags, but soon realised – after a bit of digging – that most ‘recyclable’ bags are not actually recyclable. The multi-layered pouches need de-constructing to begin with, which is practically impossible to do with human hands. And then the layers need recycling at specialist treatment centres, which are far & few between.
If you’ve seen David Attenborough’s Blue Planet documentary (if you haven’t seen it, watch it; it’s bloody powerful stuff), his message was loud & clear: use less & waste less. Zero waste is the way forward and with Coffee Wanchor bags, there is zero waste. They’re undeniably more expensive than non-biodegradable bags (& bags that claim to biodegrade but actually don’t), but we’d rather have smaller profit margins & know that we’re doing our bit for the environment. Plus, we’ve been to Bali & seen the rubbish floating around in the ocean & washed-up on the shores. Small changes; huge difference.
So once you’ve polished-off your bag, stick it on the compost heap and – for extra sWANK – stick your used beans in there too! Then sit back & watch that biodegradable bag disappear.

Hi
Thanks for the comments and glad you like.
We don’t don’t pay for guest writers but would always consider adding somebody else’s work to our blog if it was appropriate and on-brand.
Thanks.
